Because flirting is life force energy, flirting is… fun.
According to a study done at the University of Kansas, there are five main types of flirting: traditional, physical, sincere, playful, and polite.
Despite what The Bachelor- and basically every reality dating show- would tell you, flirting doesn't mean you have to bat your eyelashes and laugh at every joke the other person says. Understanding which flirting style fits you best may help you understand how to tap into your cosmic coquette.
Traditional
If you’re in this category, you may expect the masculine-identifying individual to make the first move. That’s fine but just make sure it doesn’t hold you back if you ever get the impulse to be the one who takes the lead!
Physical
If you’re in this category, you like to let your body do the talking. Maybe it’s throwing your head back in laughter or grabbing someones arm (respectfully, of course). If this is your style, you may also want to study other flirtation styles for any online dating or saucy dm-ing!
Sincere
This is the most common type of flirting. This is about finding common ground with someone- “I like your shoes” or “I just read that book too”. It’s more subtle but usually super authentic- and worst case you strike up a convo with someone who may have similar tastes or interests!
Playful
This may be you if you find yourself flirting without even realizing it! Flirting may come natural to you and can bring lots of fun to your life. Just be sure that you’re not using flirting as a tool for manipulation or to misguide anyone. Keep in mind the people you’re flirting with have feelings!
Polite
This last style is the favorite amongst empaths- it’s usually for the super reserved and comes from being sweet and thoughtful. The downside is that it may be harder to pick up on for the other person. The upside is that it is often the most genuine style of flirting!

I don’t think the honourable Maya ANGELOU would appreciate her quote being used with her surname being spelled incorrectly by a reputable bunch such as yourselves. Her words are important and should be regarded as such. Please correct this.
